The first iteration of the study, this mapping and research project aims at engaging this emerging genre across different cities and continents due to a global neoliberal turn, yet triggered by specific local contexts and conditions. Starting with Cairo, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, this round of research recognized the specificity of each city and country.

It also mapped their organizational, financial and legal structures, documented their strategies, methods and tools, while debating the challenges facing their future sustainability. CLUSTER, Cairo partnered with Non-fiction, Amsterdam focused on 24 Grounded Urban Practices in three cities.
